What actually is BIAB?
BIAB stands for Builder In A Bottle.

This makes BIAB particularly popular with clients whose natural nails are prone to bending, splitting or breaking, or anyone who wants to grow their own nails while still enjoying a polished manicure.
Unlike acrylic, which is an enhancement system that can be used to create significant additional length and structure, BIAB is primarily used to add structure to the natural nail.
That doesn't make one system better than the other – they're simply suited to different nails and different goals.
Why is BIAB so popular with my Torbay clients?

Likewise, if your natural nails are already strong and you mainly want colour, gel nails may be all you need.
That's why I prefer to look at the individual client rather than treating BIAB as the answer to everything.
What happens during a BIAB appointment?
Every appointment starts with your natural nails. I'll look at their current condition, talk about the length and shape you want and discuss the kind of finish you're looking for.
A typical BIAB appointment then includes:
Preparing the natural nails and cuticle area
Shaping your nails
Applying the appropriate BIAB layers
Curing the product under an LED lamp
Adding your chosen colour, French tips or nail art if wanted
Finishing your manicure and talking through aftercare

Does BIAB damage your nails?
BIAB itself shouldn't be thought of as inherently damaging to your natural nails. What matters is how your nails are prepared, how the product is applied, how you look after it between appointments and – importantly – how it's removed.
One of the biggest things I tell my clients is don't pick or peel your BIAB off. Pulling product away can take layers of the natural nail with it.
Regular maintenance also matters. As your natural nail grows, the position and balance of the product changes, which is why I generally recommend returning for maintenance based on how quickly your own nails grow and how your set is wearing.
