Summer Nail Trends 2026: What My Torbay Clients Are Wearing

As soon as the weather starts warming up, something changes at the nail desk.

The screenshots get brighter. The French tips get more colourful. Chrome starts appearing everywhere. And suddenly everybody has a holiday coming up. ☀️

From my nail salon in Paignton, I'm already seeing some clear favourites emerging among my Torbay clients for summer 2026.

Some are going bold with bright colours and statement nail art. Others are choosing short, natural-looking BIAB sets with tiny details. And plenty are somewhere in between.

So, if you're looking for inspiration before your next appointment, these are the summer nail trends I'm actually seeing – and the ones I'd recommend depending on your style, nails and summer plans.

Chrome nails are still everywhere

Chrome isn't disappearing anytime soon – and summer is when reflective finishes really get to have some fun.

It doesn't have to mean full-on silver mirror nails either.

Some of my favourite summer combinations include:

• Glazed chrome over soft pink

• Bright coloured chrome

• Chrome French tips

• Small chrome details over a BIAB base

If there's ever a time to choose the colour you normally talk yourself out of, it's summer. 💖

Bright shades are always popular once holiday season arrives, with colours like:

• Hot pink

• Coral

• Electric blue

• Sunshine yellow

• Bright orange

• Lime green

And you don't necessarily need ten completely bright nails.

If you're usually a neutral-nail girlie, try a nude or milky base with a colourful French tip. You still get that little hit of summer without feeling like your hands have suddenly joined a rave.

Natural BIAB with minimal nail art

Not everybody wants their nails to shout SUMMER from across the beer garden.

One of the looks I see again and again is a natural BIAB base with one small detail that makes the set feel a little more special.

Think:

• Tiny hearts

• Micro French tips

• Simple florals

• Delicate chrome accents

• Dots or tiny motifs

• One or two feature nails

It's a lovely option if you want to keep your natural nails looking clean and understated while still having something a little more interesting than a completely plain set.

French tips aren't going anywhere – they've just become much more fun.

Instead of the classic white tip, summer gives us an excuse to play with:

• Bright tips over a natural BIAB base

This is one of my favourite options for clients who want colour without committing to a completely bright set.
